U.S. President Donald Trump is shaking up global trade with a sweeping set of tariffs that threaten to disrupt economic ties across North America, Europe, and China. His so-called “reciprocal” tariff plan would impose a 25% duty on European cars and other goods by April 2, further intensifying trade tensions with some of America’s closest allies. If implemented, this plan could dramatically reshape global commerce as policymakers scramble to respond.

There’s still room for diplomacy. “Trump’s ‘Fair and Reciprocal Tariff Plan’ sounds reasonable in theory, but in practice, it could ignite a global trade war,” warns Hagman Global Strategies (HGS). “Europe needs to act quickly to secure a resolution before the situation spirals out of control.”
